Lanny McIntosh, FAIA and founder of The McIntosh Group (TMG), will become emeritus CEO and move into a consulting role on January 1, 2022.
Lanny founded TMG 23 years ago and has remained the majority shareholder. This transition fulfills an important ambition that Lanny had from the beginning; that of building an enterprise that facilitates ownership transition from within. Prior to TMG, Lanny served as executive vice president of program management for BSW International. Named an AIA Fellow in 2019, his work centers on using design thinking to solve business problems for clients.
“Fresh perspectives are healthy,” Lanny said. “These are talented people stepping into new roles, which enables me to shift my focus.”
Assuming the role of CEO will be Brad Gaskins, AIA, CASp, RAS. Brad has been an owner since 2001 and is the leading expert on accessibility and ADA compliance – working to help people understand the reasons behind compliance requirements so that everyone can have access to public spaces. He serves on the ICC/ANSI A117.1 Consensus Committee on Accessible and Usable Buildings and Facilities, developing the national standard that guides building owners on accessibility.
“I’m excited to carry on Lanny’s legacy,” Brad said. “Our single-minded focus will continue to be making our clients successful — both from an accessibility perspective, as well as prototype design and rollout. Our process enables us to serve our clients in the most responsive and efficient way.”
Patrick Golden, NCIDQ, CASp, RAS, also an owner and principal since 2015, will assume the role of chief financial officer. Patrick, a registered commercial interior designer in Oklahoma, is also an expert on accessibility and ADA compliance.
Al Pagano, AIA, will become the primary professional of record and will join Brad and Patrick as a principal and owner.
Mark Lamzik, Assoc. AIA, also will be named a principal, and together, will lead the architecture division for the firm to provide a seamless and consistent service for clients.
Karen MacCannell will become principal and chief operating officer, running the day-to-day operations for TMG, as well as continuing as director of business development and client liaison.
The McIntosh Group partners with national clients with multiple locations across the U.S. – transforming facilities to reflect a consistent brand and to facilitate accessibility for all customers. TMG has licensed architects in all 50 states and the District of Columbia, enabling them to serve clients in every state.
