We are primarily concerned with everything building related in the themed environment. That includes everything from museums to theme parks. One of my tasks is to review submittals for ADA Compliance as I know them. Unfortunately, there are few resources that address the special requirements we face and I usually end up cobbling up an analysis from several sources. Can you direct me to any good resources? I am concerned with ride safety, queue line accessibility, wayfinding and service animal regs.

ANSWER:

Pat,

The 2010 ADA Standards provide all of the technical requirements. If you need something to go into further explanation, I would review the following webinars from www.accessibilityonline.org.

Some other helpful sources for specific topics include:

Amusement Park Rides

Queue Lines
https://www.accessibilityonline.org/ao/archives/a8

Wayfinding
https://www.accessibilityonline.org/ao/archives/10

Service Animals

I hope this helps! Let me know if we can assist you further.
