My company moved the handicap spaces quite a ways from the entrance to our building in order to provide preferred parking for non-handicapped customers. Is this legal? And if not who would one report it? Thanks!

ANSWER: It is not in compliance with the ADA Standards.  The accessible spaces are required by the ADA to be on the shortest accessible route to the entry and the USDOJ has interpreted that to mean the closest parking spaces to the entry.

There are basically 3 ways to report.

  1.  File a complaint with your employer notifying them of the risk they are taking.
  2.  File a complaint with the United States Department of Justice.
  3.  Find an attorney and give notice of a complaint and file a private lawsuit.
